Tamales!

As I said in the Halloween post, Max invited all of the neighbors that had come over for the Halloween party over for tamales. We had about a dozen people over that night. I made tamales with sauce, Spanish rice, and refried beans.

Now, we have a tiny oven, and a relatively large steamer. But, with 3 dozen tamales to make, we didn't have enough room. Tamales are supposed to be steamed for an hour, but I had to do half time steaming and half time baking. The result was rather rubbery, but still super yummy. The neighbors seemed to really like it, and they stayed until late in the night. One of them has been to Spain, and he said that my rice tasted just like what he got there. :)
