Anyway, Max & I didn't really care about NYE, since our traditional NYE activities were null and void. We have California TV, so the ball wasn't going to drop on our TV until 9am on the 1st German time. Not so fun. But, Em still really wanted to stay up, so we did. at about 11:30, we turned on the German TV to find a NYE celebration. We did, complete with polka band. Awesome. Max remembered fireworks from last year, so Em went out onto her balcony to see if she could see any at midnight. Yeah, she did. They were right overhead. We could see that some were coming from our street, so we went out front.
The video is taken from Em's balcony in the back of the house.
People were setting off huge fireworks from the street! I mean the kind that fly up in the air, not just ones that stay on the ground. Though, there were plenty of those, too. There are some young adult neighbors a few houses down, and they had some friends over. They would light the smaller fireworks and throw them at each other. There was also a guy that they must not have liked much, because they kept setting off the fireworks under his car.
Em would have been happy to stay out all night, but we went in when it seemed that the louder ones were winding down.
Emma says - There were fireworks and explosions everywhere in the street and IT WAS AWESOME!!
