Staying Local

This is kind of a catch-all post for our local days. The day that Jen & David arrived, I wanted to keep them awake. That's the best way to get over the jet lag that is so very bad when you're day is flipped almost completely upside down. They got here at about 11am, but their bodies thought it was 2am. So, a day in the sun was what the circadian rhythms  ordered. Luckily, it was sunny.

The way home from the airport
I remember how flippin' exhausted I was when I got here, though, so I didn't want to do too much. So, it was a day for walking around Mainz. We saw the Roman theater at the train station, and then we walked down the Old Town and around the Dom. Then, we walked back to the car and came home. We went to yummy German food for dinner.

One of our favorite things in Mainz. There are two happy lions, one on either side of this arch

We spent a couple of days at Keltterwald, the tree climbing course in Wiesbaden. One day was right before Paris. Em thought going to Kletterwald the day before Paris was a bad idea, since we had been so incredibly sore the last time we had done it, but we ended up not being too sore this time. I'm glad. Em did the same courses as the rest of us, and even came along with David and me as we moved on to one of the medium ones (even the easy ones have difficult spots, so don't think that easy is really easy). She had been scared to even try the medium ones last year, but she made it all the way through this time.
Jen & I didn't realize we were twinsies until we were both together on this platform

Exhausting but fun!

Stirrups in the air that we needed to cross. Please note, these were high!

We went back again on the day before they left. This time, Max came with us. We did the normal ones, but then we did the partner course. We had never done that one before, because it wasn't there last year. It was way harder than any of the others that we had done!

This was just the beginning

This isn't Kletterwald, but the sign cracks me up. It sounds like made up Spanish

Emma says - Kletterwald was awesome!! I love it, but if you ever go there with me, I'll look like I'm hating it until I'm done. Some of those obstacles were both hard and terrifying! I know you saw the stirrups, but the thing that was scariest was a swinging platform where you had to lean across a big empty space to grab a vertically hanging log.
