Liechtenstein

We almost didn't go to Liechtenstein. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really horrible. I had a sour stomach, and I really felt very ill. Those of you who know me know how I react to that kind of thing. I had hit my head really hard the day before and had spent the most part of the day feeling really nauseous, so I think I may have gotten a little concussion. But, I woke up Sunday morning feeling just fine, so we went ahead with our plans for Liechtenstein & Switzerland, instead of going straight home. I'm glad we did.

The drive from Austria to Liechtenstein was awesome. The Alps started looking a lot more alpy once we got past Innsbruck. It was amazing to drive amongst those huge mountains. I was really afraid that it was going to be a sick-making sort of drive, so I loaded up on Dramamine and Benadryl and planned to sleep through it all. But, you literally drive through the mountains, so it was barely curvy at all. We drove through about a bajillion tunnels, one of which was 14km (almost 7 miles) long. I certainly understand why Austria & Switzerland charge you to drive on their roads.

Welcome to Liechtenstein!
We got to Liechtenstein and found parking. There was a cache at the visitors' center, so we headed there. It's actually an earthcache, where you have to answer questions and send your answers to the guy who made the cache, along with a picture of you with the Vaduz castle in the background. We had gotten started later in the morning than we had intended, so we didn't have time to answer the questions, but we got the picture, and will look up the answers online. We were actually really afraid that the center would be closed, since it was Sunday, and the entire country seemed to be closed. But, it was open, thank goodness.

For 2€, the people in the office will stamp your passport.

Switzerland is just over the river from Vaduz (the capital of Liechtenstein), so that's the end of this post. :)

Emma says - Liechtenstein was adorable. And, they had free toilets, which was awesome.
