Switzerland

We needed to get to Zurich by noon for our bus tour, so after our few minutes' sojourn in Liechtenstein, we were off to Switzerland. I had read online that you could get vignettes (the stickers you need to drive on the Swiss roads) at border crossings, but not the one from Liechtenstein! We didn't see anywhere else to get them, either.  The drive was mostly through valleys, though we did have a number of edge-of-mountain tunnels near the lakes. We saw a bunch of waterfalls. I'm not sure if they're always there, or if they were there just for us, since it had been raining for a few days. There's a really pretty one behind the tree in the picture to the right. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a good picture of it, because we were constantly behind a screen of trees or in a tunnel. This was right on the edge of the Walensee. I posted this one anyway, because I love all of the houses on that meadow above the cliffs.

We got to Zurich in plenty of time and found the correct parking garage. On the way out of the garage to the place where we needed to turn in our tour voucher, I noticed that this one was for the wrong date, as well. Crap. I really have no idea how that happened. This time, though, the people at the tour booth were not so forgiving. She said the tour was full, and she couldn't accept it with the wrong date, anyway. I was really upset. That was $100 down the drain.

But, we were here, so we wanted to look around. We were near the train station, so we went there. We did walk around town a bit, but since it was Sunday, everything was closed. The shops in the train station were still open, so we just went back there. We bought a couple of little souvenirs. Man, when people say Switzerland is expensive, they aren't kidding! I was thinking about getting a Swatch in Switzerland, 'cause how cool would that be? But, 1. they didn't have any that were sufficiently retro, and 2. the cheapest ones were 55 Francs (almost $70). If they had had one that really lit me up, or if the had any for like $20, I probably would have gotten one.

We got some lunch at a bakery that had sandwiches. Max & I got what we thought would be egg salad, but it turned out to be chicken curry salad. Now, chicken curry salad in and of itself isn't odd, but this chicken curry salad had apples & pineapples in it. Max's also had maraschino cherries. It was confusing. Really yummy, though Max didn't like the cherries. After walking around for a bit more, we decided to head home. We were going to stop off at the restroom first, but it was 2.50 Francs! No, thanks! We weren't too far from Germany, where we would need to get gas anyway (the military has a special deal with the Essos in Germany, so we get cheaper gas there), so we decided to hold it until we could pee for .70€.
