Emma's Castle Trip (by Emma)

On the balcony with my troop
CASTLE TRIP.
WAS.
AWESOME!

Our room
Our room was four bunk-beds, and we each got our own bed… usually. We had an agreement that since we had six girls and one older girl watching us that one of us in the troop would sleep on a mattress on the floor each night, but that wasn’t how it worked. We would always end up sleeping in each other’s bunks at one point, and so, there was never anyone sleeping on the floor. On the last day I slept at the foot of one of my Girl Scout’s bunks because Samantha was sleeping in my bunk.

There was so much we did! We had funny first-aid practice where we practiced how to ask someone if they were hurt (I cracked up the whole troop when I pointed at the girl pretending to choke and said “hey, that’s funny,  watcha doing?), we set up our table for our meals each day, and we even went into a haunted tower and heard ghost stories! (if you want to know one, just ask me!)

Meal time
Our meals were buffet style, and you could get as much food as you could stuff in your mouth, because there WERE NO LEFTOVERS ALLOWED! My breakfast was mostly poppy-seed bagels, Nutella (a wonderful Hazelnut-chocolate spread), and delicious mint tea.

But the last day had to have been the best. As normal, Erin (the watcher-girl), told us to get our teeth brushed and our Pjs on, but that wasn’t the end. Then she told us “OR YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO TAKE PLACE IN THE MOST EPIC PILLOW FIGHT EVER!”

After tooth-brushing the rules were explained. There would be nine rounds.  We were given a three-minute limit to duel, but if one of us got cornered we would get a few second without hits to get un-cornered. After three minutes, we would vote on who won (and we had to tell the truth! We couldn’t just vote for our friend because she was our friend). After four rounds of mayhem, we were rounded down to four girls. I got to the top four, but when I faced against one of my Girl Scouts and was about to go off against another one (it would be the winner round!) I went to go wash my face in the bathroom. Erin came in after a little bit to see what was wrong, and I told her I had decided to give up my spot in the top to the girl I had just beaten.
In truth, it was one third because I was scared of this last fight,  one third because she had done so well that I didn’t think I deserved to win, and the last third because (shh!) I had gotten hit in the face and it stung really badly so I didn’t think I could fight. It ended with the girl I would have fought winning, but then Erin told us that she herself would be the boss battle! Guess who wound up on top?

Yes! The girl I would have fought.

Now on to something completely different.

In the middle of the day (before and after lunch) it was run-around time. We played octopus in the square, and bought the best candies and sodas our ten-to-twenty euros could buy. But none of us were allowed to drink a whole bottle on our own in a day, so we either drank them over the course of a few days or shared them. Mostly we did both.

The things we did differed every day! One day we made plaster masks on the grass, another we were running around on a hike trying to find a village. (We never got there. Our map was off, none of the signs said which way to go, and we ended up going in a circle back to the castle! Good thing we got granola bars along the way. I would have starved!)

There’s so much more I want to tell you, but it would take the whole day to read! So I hope you enjoyed my collection of over-explained highlights and funny tales!
